Hi, Valerie,
It's exciting to hear from someone who knows the village. My grandmother Franciszka Krakowska, was one of eight children born
in Szafarnia, baptised in Pokrzydowo, to Franz Krakowski and Marianna Michalkiewicz. It seems that Franz and Marianna appear in the
area when their first child was born in 1863, and disappear from
the area when Casimir was born in 1884, apparently to Miliszewo
nearby. Father Zmijewski told us that there are no Krakowski's
now in Pokrzydowo, but that there is still a Michalkiewicz family.
What a beautiful church.

Hello Lenore,
My great grandmother was born in Pokrzydowo and I still have cousins who live there. Visited it about 5 years ago and am very surprised to see someone else who has roots in the same village. My great grandmother Antonina Hartka married Jan Tuchewicz in that church.

James -
Home today (15th) after a few days in Italy. Poland was wonderful.
The trip was much more than I expected - and it's due to Zenon as
a guide. He is superb. It was fascinating to me to find that the family
names continue in the same towns, although my direct ancestors have
been gone for over 100 years. I have more research to do - and I
would love to be able to return to Poland after it's done. (I'd also
like more Bigos).

Leonore ,
It looks like your trip is off to a great start! Beautiful pictures of the church, but what churchs in Poland are not beautiful ? I hope that you have success at the Archive in Torun, and can also visit the Old Town . I have a feeling that your trip will exceed your expectations. Zenon's guests experience that quite often ;-))
