Wanderlust: Polska 2014. Part 8: Polish mountains.

April 29, 2014

Woke up to partly cloudy skies. Lovely view of the ski resort out our hotel room window. We ate a nice breakfast at the hotel, checked out, and took the 2 hour bus tour of Zakopane.

>We went up to the top of the mountain in the cable car. Afterward we ate lunch at a restaurant and had pierogi and pork chops.

  2. Zakopane is such a quaint, beautiful town. Not to be missed if you travel to Poland because the views of the Tatra Mountains are unbelievable! If you want to walk the town online try Google Maps. We bought 2 Oscypek, which is smoked, sheep milk cheese from a sweet senior citizen on the top of Gubałówka hill. She only charged me 1 zl. each. That was too cheap, but who am I to argue? Delicious!! Sadly, because of the rain we missed The Brzyzek Cemetery, it is the most famous cemetery in Poland. 🙁

  3. G’Day from Australia,
Tatra Mountains feature in my mother’s difficult memoirs. Where are they in relation to Lida or Hrodno(Grodno) now I believe in Belarus? Do not speak Polish & find all the info from US too overwhelming. They were a catholic family – Andrejewski & Kulakowska. All advice welcome.
